For Good Measure

Christmas In Dixie - Alabama
BTW, I disabled the auto-start on my Project Playlist for easy access to the MP3's I'll be posting.
(Monday's music in case I get behind.)

Oklahoma Trip

Yes, I have pics and such from the Oklahoma trip. However, I'm going to do that in bits and pieces. All good things come to those who procrastinate.

My Favorite Christmas Tune

Harry Connick Jr - Winter Wonderland
From the movie "When Harry Met Sally"
(I won't commit to a Christmas song a day, but I'll post them when possible.)

We Made It

Oklahoma is grand. Although, it's been a little bit like Florida weather, we're awaiting a cold front for Thanksgiving day. Currently it's 70 degrees in Weleetka, about the same in St Cloud. More later.

God Bless Our Veterans

"May all the members of our great Armed Forces be ever 'remembered' and all the fallen members, who made the ultimate sacrifice never be 'forgotten.'"

Another Dream Trip

(Click map to see the large version)
Some say I won't be making this trek in the near future, but "Ice Road Truckers" makes me itch to head north. I know I wouldn't be able to see the ice roads in summer, but I'd love to see the country. Yellowknife or bust. (Don't you just love maps, in general?)

Disney's Impact On Central Florida

This was published in the Orlando Sentinel to illustrate the Orlando metropolitan area significant population increase since Disney moved-in. 55-thousand employees alone would merit quite a staggering bump.

Hugo Gets Snarked

"I do not offend by telling the truth. The Venezuelan government reserves the right to respond to any aggression, anywhere, in any space and in any manner."

Spoken by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez referring to Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar, a conservative who was an ally of Bush as prime minister. He said "Aznar is a fascist," Chavez said in a speech at the Ibero-American summit in Santiago, Chile. "Fascists are not human. A snake is more human."

Spanish King Juan Carlos angrily turned to Chavez and said,
"Why don't you shut up?"

My Brother Darrell

Fox has announced they are going to release the 1982 first season of "Newhart." It's about time, eh? Back when I was really suffering from insomnia, before the ambien years, I remember watching the marathons of "Newhart" they would run on Nick-At-Night. I'd be up for hours and hours watching the reruns. It was the only thing I could relax to and finally get some sleep. It'll be nice to see the gang again. They've set the release date for February 26, 2008.

From The Front Yard

You'd never know it, but this is a pic of the Delta 4 Heavy rocket that successfully launched from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station tonight. It was a beautiful, clear night so we were able to get a glimpse. I watched until it faded in the distance.

Moving Right Along

From the back of the Cory and Danielle's property looking toward the house. They are cleaning-up brush piles and making trips to the dump today. Last night's bonfire didn't do the trick.
They were using a little vehicle to smooth-out the area around the house this morning.

The french doors from the dining room (to be used as an office for a while) into the living room. The tile man was installing while we were there.

Tile installation in the kitchen.

Second bath with tile. The first and third baths also have tile, but the pics didn't do them justice. I'll try again.

This is the living room as the tile was being installed.

Elementary School Oz

Brooke and Samson as Dorothy and Toto, right down to the ruby slippers. She took Sam with her to school. They were a big hit.

I became a Munchkin for the day, however, there are those who think I'm a Munchkin EVERY day. I sang and danced for the little kids who think I'm crazy anyway.

It Was A Simpler Time?

Because It Won't Load In "Project Playlist"

For Brookie

This is the actor James Cromwell singing "If I Had Words" from the movie "Babe". Brooke remembers the oddest things driving down the road. (grin)

More Taranto

From James Taranto of the Wall Street Journal today:
"Washington's WTOP-FM is doing a series on congressional perks. Here's one we didn't know about:

Many airlines allow [congressmen] to book multiple flights for the same trip and pay only for the one they use, without any fees or penalties.

The only other air travelers who get such treatment from the airlines are the uber-frequent fliers.

Congress was close to losing this perk last month when the Air Transport Association opined that it violated a ban on gifts.

The Senate ethics committee quickly ruled that Senators could keep booking multiple flights without paying any fees and without fear of violating new tough ethics standards.
We're so disillusioned.
We really thought the Democrats would be different!"

Go For It! I Don't Watch MSNBC Anyway

"Lest there be any doubt that MSNBC believes there is ratings gold in shows that criticize the (Bush) administration with the same vigor with which Fox News’s hosts often champion it, two NBC executives acknowledged yesterday that they were talking to Rosie O’Donnell about a prime-time show on MSNBC."
What?

Let's see---on Thursday Nov. 1, for example, Hardball had 436,000 viewers, Olbermann 835,000 and Abrams 454,000. O’Reilly had 2,754,000. Olbermann/MSNBC is really close to O’Reilly??? In what universe?

(Maybe Fox News will STOP talking about Rosie now, and I can go back to watching their morning Fox and Friends.)
Update: The gig is off. She spoke before the deal was done. Boo hoo. Somebody call me a waaam-bulance.

Poor Cow

It's raining cows. Danger: Beware of Falling Cows in Manson, Washington.
